“The whole of Phthiotis like one family”
was the message of Most Rev. Metropolitan Symeon of Phthiotis to the male and female pupils of the schools of Phthiotis who took part in the school competition organised by the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis on the occasion of the anniversary of the 200 years since the Greek Revolution and on the central topic “The miracle of 1821 and the vision of 2021 through the eyes of a child then and today”.

An eight-member-strong judging committee constituted by distinguished Ecclesiastical and Lay personalities was appointed by the Most Rev. Metropolitan of Phthiotis.

Other Metropolitans, state, educational, police and military dignitaries attended the award ceremony.

The Metropolitan of Phthiotis addressed those attending by emphasising the significance of the occasion as a moment of happy reunion after the difficult year of the pandemic, and the part played by the Church of Greece in the celebrations of the bicentenary of the 1821 Revolution. “The Church is there to stand by you all, succour, walk side by side with you. We are here to minister you all, whether schools, teachers, or children”.

It is worth noting 61 prizes were awarded, in the form of either scholarships for the “Ghermanos the Melodist” Conservatoire of the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis, pecuniary awards or electronic devices.

The award ceremony was broadcast on Saturday at 21h30 from the “Central Greece Star” TV channel and the 89.4FM Radio Station. You may wish to watch it here.

Finally, the event was closed with a concert by the teachers and the students of the “Ghermanos the Melodist” Conservatoire of the Holy Metropolitanate.
