The Synodic and peripheral events of the Church of Greece for the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 are continued. Specifically:

Saturday, December 4

In cooperation with the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis the Synodic Committee on Christian Education and Youth organises the Panhellenic Conference of Catechists in Lamia, Greece. The timetable is as follows:

  • 07h Matins and Polyarchieratical Joint Liturgy by Most Rev. Metropolitan Makarios of Siderokastron, President of the Synodic Committee on Christian Education and Youth, with Most Rev. Metropolitans Gheorghios of Kitros, Katerini and Platamon and Symeon of Phthiotis in the holy church of Saint Barbara in Lamia (broadcast on TV – radio – online);
  • 11h Commencement of the proceedings of the Panhellenic Conference of Catechists on the topic “How to convey the spirit and the vision of 1821 to our youth” in the Auditorium of the Cultural and Administrative Centre of the Holy Metropolitanate in Lamia (broadcast on TV – radio – online);
  • 15h30 Visit of the Participants to the Cenotaph of Athanassios Diakos in Lamia and narration of his martyrdom.

Sunday, December 5

At 12h the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises an anniversary event in cooperation with the parish of Saint Barbara in Lamia on the topic “Ioannis Capodistrias”, to be held in the Auditorium of the Cultural and Administrative Centre of the Holy Metropolitanate in Lamia.

Monday, December 6

At 18h the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises an anniversary event in cooperation with the parish of Saint Nikolaos in Nea Vracha on the topic “1821 in Folk Tradition” to be held in the Hall of the Music School of Lamia.

In all these events all the measures stipulated for protection from the Coronavirus are observed.
