An anniversary music event with songs about 1821 was carried out by the Holy Metropolitanate of Messenia in cooperation with the Music School of Kalamata and the theatrical play under the title “The Kiss” by Michail Mitsakis referring to the legendary tradition of Ibrahim’s kiss on the dead body of Papaflessas.

The event was presented by the Protosynkellos of the Holy Metropolitanate of Messenia, Archimandrite Philippos Hamarghias, who on behalf of the organising committee of the celebrations upon the completion of 200 years since the Greek Revolution of 1821 thanked all those who contributed to the organisation also of this music event.

During the event prizes were awarded to the pupils who took part and distinguished themselves in the Pan-Messenian Contest of Essay-writing, Poetry, Drama, and Digital Creation Works (video, mobile robotic construction, music created by digital means) on the subject “Ecclesiastical personalities of the Struggle in Messenia: Metropolitan Chryssanthos Pagonis of Monemvassia and Kalamata, Bishop Gregorios Bistis of Koroni, Bishop Gregorios Papatheodorou of Methoni” in cooperation with the Directorate of Secondary Education of Messenia.

The event was closed by Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos of Messenia who mentioned each one of those who contributed to it and thanked all of them particularly and visibly satisfied with its content.
