On Monday, May 31, 2021, at 13:30, the Evaluation Committee of the works of the Third Panhellenic School Competition for the school year 2020-21 for the creation of a video on the topic “200 years since 1821”, set up through a relevant document of the Secretary General for Religious Affairs and the Chairman of the Special Synodic Committee of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece on Cultural Identity, met online because of the healthcare protection measures.

 

The meeting was declared open by Archimandrite Bartholomaios Antoniou Triantaphyllidis, Secretary of the Special Synodic Committee on Cultural Identity and Presiding over the Committee, constituted by the following:

Ms Penelope Moraitou, Classics teacher,

Mr Constantinos Holevas, political scientist,

Ms Victoria Peloni, Administrative Official of the Department of Religious Freedoms and Interreligious Relations,

Ms Sophia Meretaki, Administrative Official of the Department of Religious Freedoms and Interreligious Relations, and

Ms Eftychia Mitsopoulou, Special Adviser to the Secretary General for Religious Affairs.

The works submitted, whose number and quality exceeded every expectation, were evaluated by the Committee on the basis of the following criteria: clarity as regards the subject, originality, æsthetic rendering and the implementation of the goals set. The Committee unanimously pronounced itself on the award of five prizes and seven commendations to students of the 5th and 4th grades of high-school, who submitted individual or group video creations focusing on the following four personalities of the Revolution of 1821:

  1. a. Constantinos Kanaris
  2. b. Ioannis Capodistrias
  3. Evanthia Cairi
  4. Father Constantinos Oikonomos from among the Oikonomoi.

The winners will receive a tablet as a prize, for their labour, enthusiasm, and very considerable result they achieved. Finally, depending on healthcare conditions, the students who distinguished themselves will be received in due time by HB Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and all Greece and the Secretary General for Religious Affairs Mr Gheorghios Kalantzis.
