On May 21, 2021, the Pan-Messenian Competition of Essay, Poetry and Digital Creative Works (video, mobile robotic construction, music creation by digital means), for male and female students of the 3rd and 2nd grades of high-school on the topic : “Ecclesiastic Personalities of the Struggle in Messenia: Metropolitan Chryssanthos Pagonis of Monemvassia and Kalamata, Bishop Gregorios Bistis of Koroni, Bishop Gregorios Papatheodorou of Methoni” organized by the Holy Metropolitanate of Messenia, in cooperation with the Directorate of Secondary Education of Messenia, within the framework of anniversary events on the occasion of the celebration of the bicentenary of the outset of the Greek Revolution of 1821.

Having been given the possibility of freely choosing from among a series of actions, male and female students were invited to create an Essay, a Poem or Works of digital creation, inspired by the ecclesiastical personalities of the Struggle in Messenia, and to express their thoughts and emotions on the subject, to think about the importance and topical value of those personalities in modern life and mainly about their contribution to the Greek Revolution and the perennial messages sent out by their action.

The names of the winners were announced but their personal data must be protected by virtue of GDPR requirements.

The Holy Metropolitanate of Messenia expresses its thanks to Mr Nikolaos Pefanis, Director of Secondary Education of Messenia, for the cooperation and common understanding on the matter, as well as the supervising teachers and above all the male and female students who participated in the competition.

The prizes will be awarded to the winners on September 25, 2021 in the Auditorium of the Music School of Kalamata, where a music event will also take place with songs about 1821 in cooperation with the Music School of Kalamata.
