This week too the Synodic and Peripheral events of the Church of Greece in honour of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 are continued.

Specifically:

Wednesday, June 23
20h00 | Participating in the “Miaouleia” events, which it coorganises with the Municipality of Hydra, the Holy Metropolitanate of Hydra, Spetses and Aeghina will carry out a soirée dedicated to the naval fight of Hydra in the conference hall of the Cathedral.

Thursday, June 24
20h00 | Most Rev. Metropolitan Symeon of Phthiotis will award prizes to those who excelled in the school competition for 1821.

The event will be broadcast from the website of the Holy Metropolitanate.


Friday, June 25

10h30 | Within the framework of the 27th Pavleia, the Holy Metropolitanate of Veroia, Naoussa and Campania will organise a two-day-long Scholarly Conference (Friday and Saturday, June 25-26) in the arts space of the Municipality of Veroia, on the subject “Apostle Paul and intellectual workings prior to 1821”.

Saturday, June 26

17h00 | Co-organising events in honour of the victory of the Maniats and the sickle-bearing women of Mani against the troops of Ibrahim (Verga and Diros, June 1826) with the Municipality of Eastern Mani, the Holy Metropolitanate of Mani will carry out a Scholarly Conference in the Covered Gym of Areopolis on the subject “The contribution of women to the Greek Revolution”. Subsequently, a reconstruction of the repelling of Ibrahim’s troops by the women of Mani with the sickles on Diros beach. Within the framework of the events, on Sunday, June 27, 2021, in the holy church of Saint Demetrios the Myrrh-Streamer in Pyrgos of Diros, Rev. Metropolitans Serapheim of Piræus and Chryssostomos III of Mani will co-officiate and simultaneous bell-chiming of all the churches of Areopolis and Pyrgos of Diros will follow.
At 10h30 the Most Rev. Metropolitan of Mani will perform a Doxology to honour the battle of Diros of 1826.

Sunday, June  27

Morning | Most Rev. Metropolitan Ephraim of Hydra, Spetses and Aeghina will officiate in the Divine Liturgy with HE the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms Aekaterini Sakellaropoulou attending as well as a memorial service for the rest of the soul of Admiral Andreas Miaoulis. Subsequently, HE the President of the Hellenic Republic will lay a wreath before the statue of Andreas Miaoulis in the Castle.

19h00 | The Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises an event in the Cultural Cenre of the church of the Holy Apostles of Lamia on the subject “Revolutionary Constitutions of 1821”. The event will be broadcast from the website of the Holy Metropolitanate.

21h00 | The Holy Metropolitanate of Polyani and Kilkission will organise an event in the open-air theatre of the Saint George hill of Kilkis on the subject “From the Greek Revolution to the Celebration of the Liberation of Kilkis”. Lectures will be delivered by Most Rev. Metropolitan Demetrios of Goumenissa, Axioupolis and Polykastron, Locum Tenens of the Metropolitanate, and Mr Christos Indos.

 

In all the events mentioned above, all the measures stipulated for the protection from the coronavirus are observed.
