Within the framework of the celebration of the bicentenary of the Greek Revolution of 1821 and in cooperation with the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens, the National Opera presents a concert under the title Hymn to Liberty on Wednesday, June 23, at 20:30 in the courtyard of the Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Orchestra and the Choir of the National Opera under the direction of Elias Voudouris will interpret extracts from the composition by Nikolaos Mantzaros Hymn to Liberty on poetry by Dionysios Solomos, as well as a part of the 36 Greek dances by Nikos Skalkotas.

The Byzantine Choir of the Music Foundation of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens under the music direction of Constantinos Anghelidis, chief cantor and teacher of the chanting art, will render Byzantine church hymns dedicated to the Annunciation of the Mother of God, the holy Neomartyrs Patriarch Gregorios V, Cosmas the Aetolian, Chryssostomos of Smyrna, Philothei the Athenian and Constantine Palæologos.
