Within the framework of the celebration of the bicentenary of the outset of the Greek Revolution for the freedom and independence of our nation, the Holy Metropolitanate of Cephalonia, the Municipality of Argostolion and the Regional Unit of Cephalonia and Ithaca carried out a joint event on Sunday, June 6, 2021, in the holy parish church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the town of Domata, site of preservation of the first coffin in which the Cephalonian captain Nikolaos Sklavos and his crew placed the holy relic of the Hieromartyr Patriarch Gregorios V, translating it to Odessa to bury it. The holy relic was translated by captain Nikolaos Sklavos to his village of Domata in the province of Leivatho of Cephalonia and was placed in the aforementioned holy church for preservation, commemoration, witness to the said event, and blessing of his village and parish.

In the morning, a Matins was performed, in which the Service of the Hieromartyr Patriarch Saint Gregorios V was chanted and subsequently an Archieratical Divine Liturgy and Memorial Service for captain Nikolaos Sklavos and the members of his crew.

The Panegyric of the day was delivered by Ms Aikaterini Alexandri Lolou, theologian. Subsequently, addresses were delivered by state dignitaries.
