Following the Archieratical Divine Liturgy in the morning of Saturday, May 29, in the holy church of Saint Panteleimon of Kamena Vourla, the 19th anniversary event of the Holy Metropolitanate was carried out in the presence of Most Rev. Metropolitan Symeon of Phthiotis and with the number of persons with physical presence allowed, within the framework of the celebration of the 200 years since the Revolution, on the topic “From the Fall to the Revolution”.

The event was declared open through an introduction by Rev. Protopresbyter Father Constantinos Vayas, Director of the Youth Office of the Holy Metropolitanate.

Archimandrite Father Christophoros delivered a paper on the subject of “Selection of some highlights from the events of May 29, 1453 and those which came after those caused by the Turks to the Nation of the Greeks”.

Subsequently, Mr Gheorghios Cosmatopoulos, graduate of Political Sciences and the Faculty of Law, delivered the next paper, on the subject of “The Education of the Nation in the Pre-Revolutionary Years”.

Then came a paper by Dr Petros Kounouklas, archæologist, on the subject of “The Greek Folk Song and on the Eve of the Revolution of 1821”, and the last one by Ms Ephi Siaphaka, Classics teacher, on the subject “From the Pre-Revolutionary Movements to the Independent Greek State”.

State dignitaries addressed greetings to the event, while students of the Annex of the “Ghermanos the Melodist” Conservatoire of the Holy Metropolitanate in Kamena Vourla embellished it with hymns and traditional songs.

Finally, the event was declared closed by Most Rev. Metropolitan Symeon of Phthiotis, who sealed it with a fatherly address.
