On August 24 Saint Cosmas of Aetolia is commemorated as a fervent Greek clergyman who by means of his sermons contributed to the regeneration of the Greeks at the time of the Turkish Rule.
On the occasion of a novel by the late Ioannis Menounos under the title Marco the Spy on Cosmas of Aetolia, an online event will be carried out on Monday, August 23, at 20h30, on this novel which brings to life not only an era but the life and work of Cosmas of Aetolia.

Through the reports of a suspicious spy called Marco from Venice, we follow the steps of the man who, through his presence and work, sealed the spiritual awakening of our people. Nowadays, speaking of a simple, tiny little man who, two-hundred years ago, with a stick and no gunnysack, would go around Greece, which was under the Turkish Rule, preaching the word of God is like sowing seeds in the sea. Let us know him better through the lens of three eminent personalities of the spirit, who talk to us about the book and highlight the personality of Father Cosmas through the historical times in which he lived and acted.

The following persons will speak of the book :
Very Rev. Archimandrite Ioannikios Zambelis, Director of the Youth Centre of the Holy Metropolitanate of Lefkas, Hieropreacher;
Mr Constantinos Belezos, Professor at the Faculty of Theology of the University of Athens;
Ms Athena Codali, Post-doctoral Researcher – Member of the Faculty of the Department of Social Theology, teaching Ecclesiastical History;
