This week too the Synodic and peripheral events of the Church of Greece for the bicentenary of the outset of the Greek Revolution are continued.

Specifically:

Tuesday, July 27
_The Holy Metropolitanate of Eleia honours the Secret School by means of worship and cultural events in the Upper Holy Monastery of Divri in Lampeia. A Polyarchieratical Divine Liturgy in the Chapel of Saint Panteleimon, with Most Rev. Metropolitan Kallinikos of Arta officiating as representative of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece and Most Rev. Metropolitan Ghermanos of Eleia and His Grace Bishop Athanassios of Oleni co-officiating. At 11 a.m. Very Rev. Archimandrite Father Damaskinos Petrakos, D.Th., Secretary of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece, will deliver a public address on the subject of “The contribution of the Holy Monasteries of the Holy Metropolitanate of Eleia to the Struggle of 1821. The Secret School of the Upper Monastery of Divri and the members of the Friendly Society and fighters from Divri”.
A visit to the Secret School of the Monastery will follow and a supper will be extended by the Hegumen of the Holy Monastery, His Grace Bishop Athanassios of Oleni, in the Refectory of the Monastery.

_At 20h the Holy Monastery of Phthiotis organises an anniversary event in the holy church of Saint Panteleimon of Ekara in Domokos on the subject of “Holocausts of sacrifice on the altar of Freedom”.


Friday, July 30

_The Holy Metropolitanate of Triphylia and Olympia will honour the memory of the fighter of 1821 Ghiannakis Mellios in the village of Kouvela of Triphylia.
Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos of Triphylia and Olympia will officiate in the Divine Liturgy in the holy church of the village and will perform a Trisaghion for the rest of the hero’s soul. Subsequently, wreaths will be laid and a public lecture of historical content will be delivered.

In all these events, all the measures stipulated for the protection from the coronavirus are observed.
