Within the framework of the bicentenary, on Sunday, September 26, 2021, an annual Memorial Service was performed in the holy church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour for the first Governor of Greece Ioannis Capodistrias, who was cowardly assassinated by Greek hands 190 years ago, on September 27, 1831, in Nafplion.

Most Rev. Metropolitan Kyrillos of Kifissia, Amaroussion, Oropos and Marathon officiated in the Matins and the Divine Liturgy and in his sermon made reference, among others, to the personality of the late Count Capodistrias as well as to the beneficial changes brought about by his presence to our country, with representatives of the local government authorities and the Associations of Cretans and Epirots of Metamorphosis attending.
