On June 26 and 27, 2021, the Holy Metropolitanate of Mani and the Municipality of Eastern Mani co-organised anniversary events in honour of the bicentenary of the National Palingenesia (i.e. rebirth in Greek) and more specifically of the heroic battle of Diros (1826). All the events had been placed under the auspices of the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece and more specifically of the Special Synodic Committee on Cultural Identity.

A one-day scholarly conference on the topic The contribution of women to the Greek Revolution. Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos III of Mani and the Mayor of Eastern Mani greeted the event, launched on Saturday, June 26, in the covered Gym of Areopolis (i.e. the historical Tsimova), and completed with the awarding of prizes to the pupil laureates of the school competition of expression and creativity that had been organised by the Holy Metropolitanate of Mani.

Subsequently, on the beach of Diros, a reconstruction of the pushing back of the army of Ibrahim by the women of Mani (June 24, 1826), the unveiling of a bust in honour of the heroic woman of Mani, elaborated by sculptor Petros Gheorgariou, and a memorial service, were carried out.

In the morning of Sunday, June 27, in the holy church of Saint Demetrios of Pyrgos of Diros, a Matins and a Biarchieratical Divine Liturgy were performed with Most Rev. Metropolitan Serapheim of Piræus officiating, who also preached the divine word, and our own Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos III co-officiating.

Ecclesiastical, state and military dignitaries attended.
