“Hymn to Liberty” | The square of the Cathedral of Athens filled with exquisite hymns

The Byzantine Choir of the Music Foundation of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens performed exquisite hymns of Byzantine Ecclesiastical Music under the direction of Chief Cantor Constantinos Anghelidis by participating in the “Hymn to Liberty” concert of the National Opera of Athens, in cooperation with the Cathedral of Athens and rendering hymns dedicated to the Annunciation of BVM, the Holy Neomartyrs Patriarch Gregorios V, Cosmas the Aetolian, Chryssostomos of Smyrna, Philothei the Athenian and Constantine Palæologus.
As of the coming September the Music Foundation prepares its new digital music project : a series under the title “The Byzantine System of Eight Modes”, with the first disk dedicated to the slow Dismissal Hymns (Apolytikia).
