This week too the Synodic and peripheral events of the Church of Greece for the bicentenary of the outbreak of the Greek Revolution.

Specifically :

 

_On Thursday, November 4, at 19h, in the Synodic Palace, the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece will present the ten volumes of the respective scholarly Conferences, which refer to the Turkish Rule and the Greek Revolution. The Conferences were organised during the 2012-2020 period and their Proceedings have been released by the ARCHONTARIKI Publishing House.

_On Friday and Saturday, November 5 and 6, the Panhellenic Scholarly Conference will be held online on the topic “Rhegas and the Modern Greek Enlightenment in Thessaly”. The Conference is organised by the Holy Synod of the Church of Greece through its Special Synodic Committee on Cultural Identity in cooperation with the Holy Metropolitanate of Demetrias & Almyros and the Department of History and Ethnology of the Democritean University of Thrace and is part of the actions and events to be held by the Holy Metropolitanate of Demetrias with the other Metropolitanates of Thessaly, scholarly bodies and cultural organisations.

The Conference extends over two thematic axes :
The first axis regards the intellectual environment of the Enlightenment, with which Rhegas and other Greek learned men of the time were connected. The second axis regards the intellectuals and hieromonks connected with the Modern Greek Enlightenment and education in Thessaly.

On Sunday, November 7:

  • In the holy church of Saint Nicholas in Larissa a Polyarchieratical Joint Liturgy will be performed with the participation of all the hierarchs of the Holy Metropolitanates of Thessaly as well as of Most Rev. Metropolitan Bartholomaios of Polyani and Kilkission. The Joint Liturgy is inscribed within the framework of the Panthessalian Events for the bicentenary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution.

  • At 16h, an online International Conference will be held on the topic “200 years since the liberation: Greece – Morea – Orthodoxy (1821-2021)” under the auspices of the Holy Metropolitanate of Patras, co-organised with the Foundation of National and Religious Problematics and the Singilogos scholarly review of the Singidunum University of Belgrade. The Conference will be declared open by an address of Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos of Patras.

  • At 20h the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises an anniversary event in the Cultural Centre of the holy church of Saint Nicholas of Lamia on the topic “Post-Byzantine monuments of Phthiotis”.


In all these events the measures required for the protection against the Coronavirus pandemic are observed.
