In the week from October 11 to 17, 2021, the Synodic and peripheral events of the Church of Greece for the bicentenary of the beginning of the Greek Revolution are continued.

Specifically:

Monday, October 11
At 11h the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises the 2nd Priestly Conference on the subject “Clergymen from Phthiotis and the wider area fighting in 1821” in the Auditorium of the Cultural and Administrative Centre in Nea Ambliani, Lamia.

Saturday, October 16
At 18h Most Rev. Metropolitan Panteleimon of Xanthi and Peritheorion will officiate in a Vespers for the Inauguration of the holy church of the Transfiguration of Christ the Saviour in the town of Xanthi.

At 19h the Holy Metropolitanate of Phthiotis organises an anniversary event in the holy church of Saint Loukas, Patron of Lamia, on the subject “The foundation of the modern Greek state”.

Sunday, October 17
In Xanthi a Solemn Divine Liturgy and the ceremony of inauguration of the holy church of the Transfiguration of the holy church of Christ the Saviour will be performed with Most Rev. Metropolitan Panteleimon of Xanthi and Peritheorion officiating.

At 19h the Holy Metropolitanate of Xanthi and Peritheorion organises a public lecture to be delivered by Dr Demetrios Metallenos, Faculty member of the Ionian University, on the subject “What Ioannis Capodistrias offered to the Revolution of 1821”. The event will be held in the “Virghinia Tsouderou” Hall of the Foundation of Thracian Art and Tradition in Xanthi.
