• What Greece did the heroes of 1821 fall into the fire of the battle for ?
  • What vision did they fight for the fatherland with ?
  • How did they have the modern Greek state, which would be born of the ashes of the struggle, imprinted on their consciousness ?
  • If they lived today, would they recognize the state for which they spilled their blood in the current political conditions ?

The online one-day conference organized by the scholarly branch of the “Great Basil” Association of Missionary Action on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at 18h, has not only a historical reference to the 200 years since the Revolution which signaled the new political hypostasis of the Greek state. At the same time, it is a test of national self-consciousness in the principles bequeathed to us by those to whom we owe our freedom and independence.

The following authoritative speakers will look into the intentions of the fighters of 1821 for the new Greek state:

  • Constantinos Holevas, Political Scientist (Memoirs of fighters)
  • Dr Andreas Koukos, jurist, historian (Ioannis Capodistrias)
  • Most Rev. Metropolitan Chryssostomos of Mani (Constitutional texts of the Revolution).

The one-day conference will be coordinated by Mr Demetrios Raptis, philologist, Principal of the Senior Highschool of the “Greek Learning” Association Schools in Melissia, Attica.

The one-day conference will be broadcast live here and speakers will answer questions from the viewers.

Duration of the programme: 2 hours.
